Notes: Many Alaskan gold mining operations used great quantities of water. One of the first great engineering achievements in Alaska was the construction of the Davidson Ditch, a 90-mile-long pipeline which carried water from the Chatanika River to Fairbanks area gold mining operations. Also note the size of the nugget in the miner's pan!!
